Franz Josef Helicopter Flights is an independent guide to the helicopter flights, snow landings and heli-hikes that leave from Franz Josef and Fox Glacier on New Zealand’s West Coast. It exists to answer one question well: which helicopter experience suits your time, budget and fitness.
We are not a helicopter operator and we do not sell flights ourselves. Every flight on this site is run by a licensed local operator and booked through GetYourGuide or Viator, the two marketplaces that list them.
How we compare flights
For each flight we set out the same things: the listed duration and how much of it is spent on the ground, the glaciers and mountains on the route, the landing type (snow, alpine, glacier or none), where you check in, child, weight and fitness rules, the cancellation terms, and the current price on the booking page. Ratings and review counts are the marketplaces’ own figures at the time of writing.
General facts (weather, glacier access, operator policies) come from the Department of Conservation, regional tourism bodies and the operators’ own published terms. Each guide keeps a list of its sources. The editorial policy explains how pages are checked and updated.
