What we write about
This site covers helicopter flights, snow landings, heli-hikes and private flights that depart from Franz Josef and Fox Glacier. Pages about the wider area (walks, weather, where to stay) exist only where they help someone choose or plan a flight.
Where the facts come from
- Flight details (duration, route, landing, inclusions, check-in point, restrictions) come from each listing on GetYourGuide or Viator and from the operator’s own published terms.
- Prices, ratings and review counts come from the booking pages on the date shown on each page. Prices are quoted in US dollars as the marketplaces show them; operator prices in New Zealand dollars are labelled NZ$.
- General facts (glacier access, climate, park rules, road status) come from the Department of Conservation, NIWA climate records, regional tourism bodies and named operators. Where sources disagree we say so or leave the number out.
What we do not do
- We do not accept payment from operators for a recommendation or a ranking.
- We do not promise a snow landing, a clear day or a refund on an operator’s behalf. Landings and flights depend on the weather and the pilot’s call.
- We do not quote guest reviews word for word or name reviewers; we summarise what reviewers report.
Updates
Listings change. We re-check prices and terms regularly and update the “checked” date on a page when we do. If you spot something out of date, please contact us.
